Jim Leggitt, FAIA

“Recognizing the lack of drawing self-confidence in design students and architects, Jim Leggitt has reintroduced traditional hand drawing skills to our profession.”

For the past three decades, Jim Leggitt, FAIA has practiced architecture and urban planning with an emphasis on a collaborative project team approach, interactive “hands on” design process, quick visualization products and new methods for effective communication. In addition to his design practice, Jim is a national speaker on the subject of hand drawing and the author of Drawing Shortcuts (2002) and Drawing Shortcuts Second Edition (2010), published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. His first book was adopted by over fifty universities and translated in three foreign languages. Leggitt teaches at the University of Colorado School of Architecture and Planning and continues to search for new ways to re-establish ‘hand drawing’ as a preferred communication for architects, students, design professionals, teachers, children and the general public.
