SALIDA CORRIDOR STUDY
Challenge: Leggitt Studio participated in a multi-day community planning workshop in Salida, Colorado studying different design opportunities that would strengthen local businesses along a major state highway corridor. At issue was the actual redesign of the roadway to calm traffic and provide more amenities for pedestrians and bicyclists. Also highlighted was the need for more diverse business opportunities and incentives to invest more into existing properties. The project involved two major tasks: the in town planning workshop, and post workshop production of additional street design renderings.
Solution: Jim Leggitt toured the corridor study area with the team and photographed numerous sites that would eventually be visualized in sketch form. He generated seven “before and after” sketches from photographs during the workshop and five “hybrid scan composite drawings” from a 3D SketchUp model he built following the charrette.
