SCOTTSBLUFF DOWNTOWN STUDY
Challenge: Visualize different redevelopment opportunities for an underperforming commercial corridor in Scottsbluff, Nebraska during two multi-day community planning workshops plus develop a design concept and fundraising renderings for a proposed half-block events park in the downtown core.
Solution: During the community planning workshops, Jim Leggitt developed a series of hand drawn “before and after” sketches from digital photographs. The drawings illustrated possible improvements to the streetscape, an abandoned warehouse and facade improvements for a small corner retail storefront. In addition, Jim created a series of plan diagrams for the downtown park design, constructed a detailed 3D SketchUp model and illustrated two “hybrid” hand drawn renderings based on the detailed computer model. Exported scenes from the SketchUp model were used in a presentation to the downtown merchants and leadership group.
