DOWNTOWN LAS ANIMAS VISION

Challenge: Create a series of options for improving the historic downtown district using grant money provided by the Colorado Department of Transportation for addressing the negative impact on small community businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Solution: Jim Leggitt led a series of community planning workshops that included surveys, on-site visits, public engagement workshops and design presentations. A number of different options ranged from new gateway monument signage, colorful street graphics, festival lighting, temporary “parklets”, and purchase of street furniture to encourage more public use of the historic downtown district.
