WOOD CARVING

Inspired by a workshop he attended at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology by master carver Monica Setziol-Phillips, Jim began studying shadows and textures made from carving tools to tell stories in wood. Jim has created a series of twelve inch carvings that reflect urban land patterns and architectural form. He continues to explore the infinite varieties of options that come to life using traditional hand carving tools and his imagination.
